항상 조금 어색한 동영상에 실망이었는데, 이번 동영상은 나름 박진감 있게 잘 만든 것 같네요.

이정도의 협업, 꿈꾸던 워크스테이션이겠지만, 아직 회사들은 사양의 압박이 있으니...

1. 원도우 7의 커널은 새 커널이 아니다?

MS 관계자들의 말을 인용하였습니다.

 The long-term architectural investments we introduced in Windows Vista and then refined for Windows Vista SP1 and Windows Server 2008 will carry forward in Windows 7. Windows Vista established a very solid foundation, particularly on subsystems such as graphics, audio, and storage. Windows Server 2008 was built on that foundation and Windows 7 will be as well. Contrary to some speculation, Microsoft is not creating a new kernel for Windows 7. Rather, we are refining the kernel architecture and componentization model introduced in Windows Vista

 Steven Sinofsky, Microsoft's Windows chief, also broke the silence today in an interview with CNet's Ina Fried. He reiterated the three year time frame, where Windows 7 is scheduled for release three years after Windows Vista. Sinofsky also confirmed what Flores had to say: driver and programs that work on Vista will also work on Windows 7. "We're very clear that drivers and software that work on Windows Vista are going to work really well on Windows 7; in fact, they'll work the same. We're going to not introduce additional compatibilities, particularly in the driver model." He added that Windows Server 2008's kernel is an evolution of Vista's kernel, and Windows 7's kernel will be an evolution of the Server 2008 kernel.

내용을 살펴보면,

"윈도우 비스타의 드라이버, 응용프로그램은 윈도우7에서 문제 없이 작동될 것이며, 사실 두 커널은 거의 같다. 서버2008 커널은 비스타 커널의 발전형이고 윈도우7 커널은 서버 2008 커널의 발전형이다"라는 말을 하고 있습니다.¹

사실, 비스타와 커널의 차이가 없다면, 윈도우 7 역시 외면받지 않을까 벌써부터 걱정이 됩니다^^

2. 윈도우 7은 2010년 1월 정식 발매된다.

3. 원도우 7의 변경사항, 기타 소식

May 27th, 2008. "Contrary to some speculation, Microsoft is not creating a new kernel for Windows 7. Rather, we are refining the kernel architecture and componentization model introduced in Windows Vista. While these changes will increase our engineering agility, they will not impact the user experience or reduce application or hardware compatibility. In fact, one of our design goals for Windows 7 is that it will run on the recommended hardware we specified for Windows Vista and that the applications and devices that work with Windows Vista will be compatible with Windows 7."

The Blog also mentions that "We are well into the development process of Windows 7, and we're happy to report that we're still on track to ship approximately three years after the general availability of Windows Vista."
 
From what I know about Windows 7 :

• Windows 7 builds on Vista code base.
• Its compatibility with Vista is good.
• Vista deployment will ease future migration to Windows 7.
• Devices 7 Application Compatibility will improve. That will be the focus.
• UI changes will be minimal
• No major changes in the hardware requirements will be there in Windows 7, over Vista.
• Windows 7 will have 32bit and 64 bit versions, and both will be priced at roughly the same level.

• 비스타에서 윈도우7로의 마이그레이션은 쉬울 것이며

한국 마이크로소프트 홈페이지에 정식 릴리즈 되었습니다.

이번 SP1은 이전의 RTM버젼과, RC2버젼과 동일한 것으로 보입니다.

SP1이 통합된 소매용 Retail 버젼은 6월경 출시될 예정입니다.

확인결과 내용은 같고 용량이 약간 다릅니다.

정식버전에서는 서비스팩 설치중 나올수 있는 에러에 대한 보안업데이트, Eula(약관)의 추가로 용량이 늘어났을 뿐 내용에는 다른점이 없습니다.

이제 정식 빌드에 대한 의구심은 없으실 겁니다.
3월 중순... 4월 중순이라는 애기도 들으셨을테니 기다리시는 일만 남았겠죠.
덧붙이면 지금 님들이 설치한 RTM 버전이 공장으로 넘어가는 Final입니다. SP1이 적용된 비스타 생산을 위한 것이니 정식(?)을 찾으실 필요는 없으리라 봅니다.

Server 2008의 경우는 완전 테러식으로 배포한거라 중간에 이건머야 머지 할정도로 의구심도 들었던 제품이었지만

이역시 MS에서 다 시인하고 있습니다.

결론은

기존 SP1을 개별 설치한 모든 분들은 정식릴을 기다리지 않으셔도 됩니다.(RTM또는 리프레시 2)

RTM = 정식릴에 똑같은 버전 사용한다라는거니.

영문판 사용자분은 영문판 SP1을 설치해주시고 (36개버전에도 영문판 포함되어있음)

What: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) was released to manufacturing today and will start being available to customers in March, starting with Microsoft Volume Licensing customers. Windows Server 2008 was also released to manufacturing today and will be available for purchase to new customers on March 1. Microsoft Volume Licensing customers with active Microsoft Software Assurance coverage or an Enterprise Agreement will be able to download the server software toward the end of February as part of the joint Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 “Heroes Happen Here” launch event.

Announcing the RTM of Windows Vista SP1
Here's the timing for SP1 availability for current Windows Vista users:
- In mid-March, we will release Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Update (in English, French, Spanish, German and Japanese) and to the download center on microsoft.com.  Customers who visit Windows Update can choose to install Service Pack 1.  If Windows Update determines that the system has one of the drivers we know to be problematic, then Windows Update will not offer SP1.  Since we know that some customers may want to update to SP1 anyhow, the download center will allow anyone who wants to install SP1 to do so.
- In mid-April, we will begin delivering Windows Vista SP1 to Windows Vista customers who have chosen to have updates downloaded automatically.  That said, any system that Windows Update determines has a driver known to not update successfully will not get SP1 automatically.  As updates for these drivers become available, they will be installed automatically by Windows Update, which will unblock these systems from getting Service Pack 1.  The result is that more and more systems will automatically get SP1, but only when we are confident they will have a good experience.
